Use ProxiSpam for free
-
IP lookup utility
ProxiSpam is an online service to protect e-mails from spam. It is used by:
- ISPs;
- companies, universities, administrations and other entities;
- the NetCourrier free mail service;
- the NetCmail free mail service;
- the Proxitools professional mail service.
This service can be used free of charge by ISPs, companies and other entities, within a limit of 50000 mails checked per day.
Depending on the activity and of the configuration of the mail system, ProxiSpam can remove more than 50% of the spam messages received by a mail platform. The ProxiSpam service comes in addition to usual antispam tools, which distinguish spam messages from proper e-mails and place them in a "Spam" folder. An optimal antispam solution requires the conjoint use of both technologies.

Usual antispam |
| ProxiSpam allows the mail server to refuse spam messages completely. The sender of the message receives a rejection code which allows him to contact ProxiSpam if needed. |
A traditional antispam allows the end-user to receive his e-mails without his spams, which are placed in a "Spam" folder. Since there are false positives, identified spams cannot be deleted automatically. |
| ProxiSpam reduces the number of spam messages received and handled by the platform. These messages do not congest the e-mail storage entity, nor the user's mailbox.
| A traditional antispam allows the user to avoid spam messages in his "inbox" folder. |
| Spam messages which are not detected by ProxiSpam are not separated from real messages and stored in a "Spam" folder. |
A traditional antispam does not reduce the number of received spam messages. The user must regularly check his "Spam" folder to look for possible false positives. |
To use the ProxiSpam service for free, you must:
- have your own Postfix-based mail service;
- ask for permission by providing ProxiSpam with the name of the entity wishing to use it and a contact e-mail address;
- configure ProxiSpam by providing the list of IP addresses of the mail servers;
- configure Postfix as described in the online documentation.
ProxiSpam provides statistics indicating the number of spam messages blocked by the service.
ProxiSpam is based on the
MailObject technology.
